Do you look after or help support a family member, partner or friend because of their illness, disability or emotional distress? Do you know someone else who does this?
Many people have taken on extra care and support for a loved one since the coronavirus pandemic began. Local and national surveys have found that many in this situation have struggled with their own wellbeing – feeling isolated, frustrated, sad, worried, bored, trapped and fearful about the future. Next week - 7-13 June is National Carers Week, an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don't think of themselves as 'carers' to access much needed support. On Thursday 10 June, we're hosting a drop-in event on zoom. You can drop in at anytime between 4:30-6:30pm to have a chat. You'll be able to speak to someone individually, or just hear more about the kind of support we can offer. Click here to register and access the zoom link. On the above link you can also view the webinar recording of our Caring Thru Covid event, with speakers from the Hive Portsmouth, and Healthwatch Hampshire, and lots of useful information. Or you can click here to watch the webinar via Facebook If you'd like to speak to someone direct, please ring Carolyn on 023 9310 6042 or email carolyn@goodmentalhealth.org.uk
