Do you look after or help support a family member, partner or friend because of their illness, disability or emotional distress? Do you know someone else who does this? We're hosting some on-line drop-in events coming up soon, so why not drop in for a virtual cuppa and a private chat? Here are some quotes from people in this situation who responded to a Healthwatch Hampshire survey last year: "Sorting out the medication and prescription for my parents and myself was a nightmare in the early days of lockdown - I had to wait in queues at the chemist for up to 1.5 hours so eventually I took a deckchair! It wasn't just the waiting around, but the number of errors that the chemists made - at one stage 8 out of 9 sets of prescriptions were wrong.” "A 22-year-old with learning disabilities unable to access any of his normal services. We did what we could to help him to stay busy, but he has gradually become more and more frustrated and low in mood.” "Frustration that I am unable to support my brother and his mental health is worrying.” "It has been difficult at times with no experience of caring for an old person let alone someone with health issues during a pandemic when they don’t understand why they can’t go out or know what the rules are." Even though restrictions are easing now and more support is available again, it can be difficult still to know where to go. So check out the dates via this link - next drop-in event is today at 5.30pm! Click here to register and access the zoom link. Because there is nothing that makes people so generous, joyful, lively, bold and compassionate, so indifferent to fighting and the accumulation of objects and money” Brenda Ueland.
