The Umbrella Arts Festival takes place on Saturday 23rd March from 10am to 4pm at Nuffield Southampton Theatres NST City, SO14 7DU. With a Song in Mind are performing at 11am at this event.
Umbrella Arts celebrates the ways health and wellbeing can be transformed through art. We encourage everyone to get involved. This is a free event for all! The Umbrella Arts festival has a number of aims: AWARENESS: Raise general awareness of the arts and health activity in the city, the roles of the Southampton Art in Health Forum and its partner organisations ENGAGEMENT: Encourage more people to engage with the arts to help them with their health issues including build coping and resilience in dealing with long term conditions CONNECTIONS: Get health professionals, health and community organisations and arts practitioners connected with each other with a particular emphasis on the social prescribing agenda; FEEDBACK AND EVIDENCE: Ensure that public feedback, public involvement research and evidence-based practice is central to the day and the health/arts agenda, with local universities and Healthwatch Southampton involvement to help progress these elements. The event is coordinated by Matt Salvage from SoCo Music Project matt@socomusicproject.org.uk and Rebecca Kinge from Healthwatch Southampton r.kinge@southamptonvs.org.uk.
