Who We Are
Overview
Founded by Frances Heather in 2012, we are a member-led, community based service operating in the Southampton area of the South of England, and we are also a registered charity in England & Wales (charity no. 1169194).
We offer support, mentoring, training and opportunities to people living in Southampton with mental health issues, along with their carers, relatives and friends. Activities run weekly and are located at various different venues throughout Southampton. |

The GoalThe purpose of the service is to help people experiencing mental health issues to discover and develop gifts and skills, and/or put use to existing ones. Our community based facilities provide a safe space for people to take part in a variety of activities, socialise and make friends, and provide mutual encouragement and support.
As such, it is hoped that—through us—participants will develop the skills, confidence and self-esteem that they can eventually put to use in the workplace, either in the voluntary sector or as paid work. |
Services Provided
The organisation runs a weekly drop-in and various other activities throughout the week. Activities repeat regularly—many are weekly and some fortnightly and monthly. Outdoor sport activities like the 'Sailability' Sailing group typically take place in Spring. We also run special events and courses throughout the year such as well-being groups, debt-counselling and suicide prevention workshops.
The activities provided at Creative Options are based on the needs and wishes of those who participate. As such, we are the only grass-roots, peer led organisation of our kind in the area.
